Re: Binding

I have heard of sewing as an alternate to using staple with books, but I didn't know there were different techniques (of course there would be). I think I would be interested in trying a different saddle-stitched binding method, other then staples, but it's usually my lack of time that prevents me from doing so. I have printed books before, both myself and through a printer, but have always used staple saddle-stitching when I make the book myself just because its easier. I did find this interesting tutorial on cord binding, which seems to be a way to use thread saddle-stitching for much larger, thicker books. I think the silent movie, monochromatic aesthetics allude to the idea that this was the technique in medieval times.
