The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao

The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao is a great book to read over time. The content is presented in chapters based on time periods of Oscar's life or a member of his family's life, the chapters are not in chronological order.

Here is a sampling of the chapters in the book:

Chapter One: Ghetto Nerd at the End of the World (1974-1987)
Chapter Two: Wildwood (1982-1985)
Chapter Three: The Three Heartbreaks of Belicia Cabral (1955-1962)
Chapter Four: Sentimental Education (1988-1992)
Chapter Five: Poor Abelard (1944-1946)
Chapter Six: Land of the Lost (1992-1995)

The chapters serve as short stories and give readers the option to put the book down and pick it back up again whenever they feel like it. It's easy to stay connected to the main character through the tales of his family members and by the end, all of the stories somehow come together.
