TROPES: Young Adult

Young Adult (YA) tropes are aimed at readers between the ages of 14-21 years old. The books generally always have a child or teenage protagonist as the main character in order for the audience to compare their life to the fictitious story.

YA tropes focus on the hardships that teens go through growing up: sexuality, poverty, mental illness, racism, etc. and generally grasps the YA audience by giving them a story to be able to compare their teenage life experiences to.
