Rachel, I too love those intricate and gorgeous stab bind patterns. There's something visceral about them, plus non-adhesive binding has a certain glow of ... I don't know, something. Something glowing.
It feels like architecture, something soft and something tight and structural and secure. There's a certain tension there, and it's very satisfying.
I'm drawn to books that have a tactile feel—from the way a soft cover bends with the text block, or the clay-y quality of a matte cover, or french flaps. I am grateful that we're incorporating all these elements of book design while also filling with a sense of dread. So, everything's normal!
