Books from a TV series

I remembering watching the first few episodes of the Fringe television series but I never really got in to it. This is actually very odd because I would consider myself a sci-fi fan. Which leads me to one of my favorite shows, Supernatural. It's not a cancelled series but it has spawned several books written by professional fan-fiction authors. For those of you that don't know, the show is currently in the lineup on The CW. Supernatural follows two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester, as they hunt ghouls and goblins, monsters, demons; a never-ending list of supernatural figures.

The TV series first aired in 2005 and the first book, Nevermore, written by Keith R.A. DeCandido, was published in 2007. Other Supernatural authors include Jeff Mariotte, Joe Schreiber, Rebecca Dessertine, Christa Faust and John Passarella. There are 10 books that were written as tie-in's to the TV series plus several more publications written in relation to the plot and characters.

The screenshot to the left shows the front matter of the first book. It is a Historian's Note that actually tells the reader where the story begins, in this case between the second-season Supernatural episodes "Crossroad Blues" and "Croatoan."

As you can see, the book covers all depict Jared Padalecki and Jenson Ackles, the two actors who play the supernatural hunters on the television series. While I feel there could be a much more interesting cover choice, I understand why the actors were chosen since the book is in fact directly correlated to the TV series.
