Re: Spin offs in Print

Michelle, you stumped me good! And, you'll find me quite embarrassed that I was unaware that books have actually spun up from TV Series before your post. With that said, thanks for your research on the various of book covers you've found of Fringe--it's given me a bit to ponder about. I could tell just how much you adore the show, but I was surprised to learn how the popularity of Fringe inspired other designers/illustrators to create their own covers to display in their portfolio, though not quite successfully executed. I do agree with your sentiment about the comic book aesthetic, which I think seems to project the most level of intrigue, investigation, and character depiction than the others. The three panel actually doesn't bother me since it takes on the comic theme, so it comes expected. Perhaps, I might have wished to have seen a full blown comic version just to see how far the concept could have been taken. I'd love to hear more discussion this topic in class since it's quite new to me.
