I saw the first season of Fringe and loved it, but never kept up with it. When I heard the whole parallel universe plot development, I was impressed. And I agree, the "Tales from the Fringe" cover art is too disturbing and alienesque. I know that NCIS and CSI tv franchises developed into a book series.
They can't seem to get away from the word blood in the book titles: Paid in Blood, Blood Lines, Blood Evidence....
Several of us in class said how we tend to think the book is better than the movie, so I can see why people go from viewing their favorite TV show to following the book series based on it. I'm sure many viewers find it interesting to see a respected author rebirth their favorite TV fiction into a series storyline. And, it's another avenue for authors to make some money. I'm honestly surprised I haven't noticed more of it.
